Troubleshooting & FAQ

Start with the failure details in the Sync Center. Version 4.0 reports the affected conversation, processing stage, and original API error, which is more useful than retrying an entire archive without knowing what failed.

Claude is not connected

1. Sign in at claude.ai.
2. Open a real conversation, not only the Claude home page.
3. Refresh the Claude tab.
4. Reopen the extension.

If the extension was installed after the Claude tab loaded, the refresh step is required once.

The Notion destination is missing

1. Confirm you are signed in to the intended Notion workspace.
2. Select Add Notion access.
3. Share the required page or data source.
4. Return to the Sync Center and select Refresh list.

Notion OAuth only exposes destinations included in the authorization.

Invalid or expired Notion authorization

Reconnect the Notion workspace and approve access again. Authorization can stop working after it is revoked in Notion or after account changes.

Database or data source not found

The destination may have been deleted, moved to a workspace you cannot access, or removed from the integration’s shared pages. Choose another destination or add access again.

A long sync appears stuck

Check the detailed activity label before cancelling. Attachment-heavy conversations may spend time downloading from Claude, uploading to Notion, writing several page batches, or creating fallback child pages.

• Keep the Sync Center open.
• Keep the connected Claude tab signed in.
• Check the network connection.
• Avoid starting another large run in the same extension.
• Cancel only if the activity and counters stop changing for an extended period.

Some files were not uploaded

A file may be unavailable from the Claude session, unsupported by the destination, or too large for Notion’s current upload constraints. Open the failure details to identify the attachment and stage.

For readable text-based attachments that cannot be uploaded directly, the exporter may create a linked child page containing the available source instead.

Duplicate pages were created

Use Skip or enable Skip locally synced conversations for recurring backups. New intentionally creates another page, while Overwrite replaces a previous export.

Existing Notion edits disappeared

Overwrite mode recreates exported content from the Claude source. Use Skip when manual Notion edits must be preserved.

The free limit was reached

The free plan includes five lifetime successful saves. Successful active-chat, Custom Export, opened-tab, and Sync Center items share the same allowance. Failed or skipped items are shown separately in the run totals.

Auto Sync did not run

Scheduled sync operates only while the Sync Center remains open. Confirm Auto Sync is enabled, keep the page open, and check the displayed next-run time.

Copy a developer report

Open the failed run or conversation, then use the copy action in its failure details. The report is sanitized for support and includes the stage and error context needed to investigate the problem.

Send the report to [email protected] with a short description of what you expected and whether the same conversation fails on retry.
