Fix Claude connection, debugger permission, incomplete PDF, media, Artifact, history, Project, download, and daily-limit issues.
Try these fixes first
- Confirm you are signed in at
claude.ai. - Open a real conversation.
- Refresh the Claude tab.
- Wait for the conversation and images to finish loading.
- Reopen the extension and retry.
The popup cannot find a Claude tab
The extension needs an open, signed-in claude.ai tab.
Close stale sign-in pages, open a conversation, and refresh it once. If several Claude accounts are open in different Chrome profiles, run the extension in the profile that owns the desired session.
Chrome shows a debugger notification
This is expected. Claude to PDF uses Chrome’s debugger permission to call the browser’s local print-to-PDF capability.
The notification does not mean a remote service is controlling your conversation or receiving the exported content. Keep the export tab open until the file is saved.
The PDF is blank or incomplete
Possible causes include:
- The conversation detail was still loading
- The Claude tab changed or closed during export
- An image was not ready
- The signed-in session expired
Refresh the source tab, wait for it to stabilize, and retry. For a very long chat, open Custom Preview first and check that the beginning and end are both present.
Images or attachments are missing
The exporter can only preserve assets Claude exposes to the signed-in browser session.
- Open the source conversation.
- Wait until each important image is visible.
- Open Custom Preview and verify the message is present.
- Export again.
Some files can appear as attachment references rather than embedded PDF content. Supported conversation assets can also be downloaded beside the PDF.
Artifact content or versions are missing
Claude conversations do not all expose Artifacts in the same way. The parser includes Artifact version history when it finds available Artifact tool data, but it cannot recreate data absent from the source response.
Use Custom Preview to confirm the Artifact-related message is present. If the conversation only shows an external or unavailable result, the PDF may contain a reference instead of the full Artifact.
History or Projects do not load
- Confirm the active Claude tab belongs to the correct account or organization.
- Refresh that tab.
- Return to the Export Center.
- Reload history or Projects.
Project availability depends on the account and organization context exposed by Claude.
Batch export stops after a few files
Check:
- Whether the free daily limit was reached
- Whether Chrome displayed a save prompt for each file
- Whether the Claude session expired
- Whether one conversation failed while others completed
Open Export History for the exact totals. Retry missing items with Selective Export and keep Skip Already Exported enabled.
Chrome asks where to save every PDF
Open Chrome download settings and turn off Ask where to save each file before downloading. The extension can choose a subfolder, but Chrome’s save prompt can still interrupt each download when that browser preference is enabled.
Daily limit reached
Free users can complete up to five conversation exports per local day. The limit is shared across active-chat, Custom Preview, open-tab, and batch workflows.
Wait for the next local-day reset or upgrade to Pro for unlimited exports.
Does Claude to PDF upload conversations?
The PDF generation pipeline runs locally through Chrome. Subscription verification can contact the product service, while preferences, usage, duplicate records, and export history are kept in Chrome local storage.
