Installation

Install from Chrome Web Store

1. Visit the Chrome Web Store
2. Search for “ChatGPT to PDF”
3. Click “Add to Chrome”
4. Confirm the installation and accept the required permissions

Required Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions:

• Debugger: Used to generate PDFs locally in your browser using Chrome’s built-in PDF engine
• Storage: Saves your preferences (filename format, folder location)
• Active Tab: Accesses the current ChatGPT conversation for export

All processing happens locally in your browser. No data is sent to external servers.

Verify Installation

After installation, you should see the ChatGPT to PDF extension icon in your Chrome toolbar. Click it to open the extension popup.

Grant Debugger Permission

When you first export a PDF, Chrome will ask you to grant debugger permission. This is required for local PDF generation.

1. Click “Allow” when prompted
2. You may see a yellow banner saying “Chrome is being controlled by automated test software”
3. This is normal and disappears automatically after export completes
